Oconomowoc

Nestled in the heart of Lake Country, Oconomowoc maintains a strong culture, vibrant economy, and unmistakable small-city charm. Residents of Oconomowoc enjoy year-round events sponsored by the city that bring people together and celebrate the joy of living in Oconomowoc. The Farmer’s Market runs from May to October and is a great place to get some locally grown produce or buy some handmade crafts. The Village Beer Garden takes place over a weekend every June, July, and August and offers local beers, lawn games, and entertainment for attendees. During the middle of August, head to the city beach for Light up the Lake. Residents are treated to a lighted boat parade, Legion Band concert, and fireworks over the lake when the sun goes down. Around the holiday season, Village Green Park becomes a festive European market when the German Christmas Market comes to town. This yearly tradition immerses visitors in European culture with traditions, food, and European gifts. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the family as the kids can get their picture taken with Santa.

Delafield

Historic Delafield is located 30 minutes west of Milwaukee, nestled in the hills of the Kettle Moraine and adjacent to the shores of Lake Nagawicka. Delafield currently has a population around 7,500 residents. The Delafield area is home to many different green spaces and lakes for everyone to enjoy. Within the city there’s a handful of parks that residents can pick from to enjoy a beautiful day. Some of the parks also have waterfront access, so getting a kayak on the water is a breeze. Delafield almost completely surrounds Nagawicka Lake, a 981 acre lake with clear water that’s perfect for many different types of recreation. Boaters and fisherman alike will appreciate the size of the lake as it ensures they won’t be on top of each other while they’re trying to enjoy the lake. Delafield is also has lakes to the west, north, and east. These lakes are Nemahbin, Pine, and Pewaukee Lake respectively. All of these lakes have pretty clear water are perfect for any kind of recreational activity under the sun. Delafield is also home to six different bike trails that run all around the city. These trails are a great way to get outside and explore the area.

Hartland

Located in the heart of southeastern Wisconsin’s beautiful Lake Country, the Village of Hartland boasts small-town charm and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Those who love going to city parks will enjoy Hartland as it offers 9 public parks for residents and visitors to enjoy. Nixon Park has a ton of amenities, including the Nixon Park Fine Arts Center, Waukesha County’s only splash pad, and multiple different sports fields. Nixon Park has also been voted a local favorite park by followers of Lake Country Family Fun and is home to the Hartland Hometown Celebration. For those looking for to take a hike, try hiking the trails at the Hartland Ice Age Marsh. It’s a nice scenic walk for people of all ages to enjoy. Hartland is also near the 2,437-acre Pewaukee Lake. The lake is a great place to swim on a hot summer’s day and provides excellent fishing year-round.

Pewaukee

Just 17 miles west of Milwaukee is the City of Pewaukee. Pewaukee is home to 13,195 residents and is located on the northeastern shores of Pewaukee Lake. Pewaukee is a fairly young city as it was only incorporated in 1999. Pewaukee Lake is a fairly big lake at 2,437 acres and has moderately clear water, thus making it a popular spot during the warmer months. Here you’ll find many people enjoying the water in various different ways from fishing to boating to swimming at the public beach at Lakefront Park. While you’re down at the beach, check out the picturesque downtown district. These quaint local shops range from fine dining to cafes and even a toy store for the kids. Just up the road, you’ll find even more shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Summit

The Village of Summit is located along Interstate 94 in western Waukesha County. Summit officially became a village in 2010. Summit encompasses a good chunk of Waukesha County at 28.5 square miles of land within the village limits. Because this area is so big, the village also manages to have 2.8 square miles of water within the limits, which means a day on the lake is possible no matter where you are. Some of the Lakes within Summit are Golden Lake, the Genesee Lakes, Crooked Lake, the Waterville Millpond, and the Upper and Lower Nemahbin Lakes. All of these lakes are fair in size, but Nemahbin is the largest at just over 500 acres combined. The size and openness of Upper Nemahbin make it ideal for water sports of all kinds like boating, tubing, skiing, and swimming.

Waukesha

Located 18 miles west of Milwaukee, the City of Waukesha. It is the largest community in the county and the 7th largest in the state of Wisconsin. Waukesha is rich in history and has been home to many notable people over the years. One of the most notable people from the city was Les Paul. Les Paul created some of the finest guitars of his time that were used by many famous musicians throughout the years and continue to be used to this day. He is also one of only a few artists who have their own stand-alone exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. To honor Paul, local artists have created multiple 10-foot fiberglass guitar sculptures and murals that are all unique in their own regard. Waukesha has also produced many NFL players who have played for teams such as the New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, and of course the Green Bay Packers among other teams as well.

Sussex

Sussex is a village in Waukesha County that is approximately 19 miles northwest of Milwaukee and 9 miles north of Waukesha. The village is just over 7 square miles and is a generally small town in nature. The Village of Sussex is home to two major parks, Armory Park and Sussex Village Park that offer tons of different amenities for residents and visitors. Armory Park is 28 acres in size and offers 4 baseball diamonds, an ice skating rink, picnic areas, volleyball courts, and soccer fields. There are also nature trails that run throughout the park and are great for taking a walk with your four-legged friend. Sussex Village Park offers an 18-hole disc golf course, a large playground, a sledding hill, and two lighted tennis courts, along with many other things. Menomonee Falls

The Village of Menomonee Falls is located in the northeastern corner of Waukesha County and is northwest of Milwaukee. The Menomonee Falls area is home to tons of recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. There are three golf courses around the area that offer great experiences that will have you coming back for more. The Silver Spring Golf Club has 36-holes of golf that will create a memorable experience for anyone who plays a round. The Island Course plays 6,912 yards from the blues and features the only natural island green in the state of Wisconsin. The Falls Course is a shorter course at only 5,582 yards and provides a nice break from the longer courses that have become so common today. The Dretzka Park Golf Course is another great course around the Menomonee Falls area. This 18-hole, par 72 course plays 6,809 yards from the tips and requires good aim as water runs through 12 of the 18 holes on this course. Both of these courses are a great experience for anyone who likes to golf.

Delavan

The City of Delavan is located in the southwest portion of Walworth County. There’s always something to do when you’re in Delavan. Every year on the 4th of July, the city hold their annual “Let Freedom Ring” celebration. The day begins with a pancake breakfast at the Fire Department. The event only costs a donation that goes directly to the department. After breakfast there is a parade that goes down the streets of the town, which is followed by family friendly activities at Veteran’s Park. The event wraps up with a firework display at the end of the night. On Halloween, the Delavan has a city wide trick-or-treat event. Trick-or-treating is held earlier in the night and is followed by a Halloween themed parade and ends with a haunted house at the American Legion.

Stoughton

Welcome to Beautiful and historic Stoughton! Located on the scenic Yahara River just 15 miles South of Madison. Founded in 1847, the City of Stoughton is known for its annual Syttende Mai Celebration in May as well as being the birthplace of the coffee break. Stoughton is a beautiful community with its many historic neighborhoods and its gorgeous historic downtown which boasts one of the few remaining second-story theaters in the Midwest – the beautifully restored Stoughton Opera House.
